HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN DAN DUKUNGAN KELUARGA DENGAN KEPATUHAN MINUM OBAT ANTIRETROVIRAL PADA PASIEN HIV/AIDS DI POLIKLINIK VOLUNTARY COUNSELING and TESTING (VCT) DI RSUP Dr. M DJAMIL PADANG

Abstract

UNAIDS states that there are 37.7 million cases of HIV-AIDS in the world in 2021. One of the treatments for HIV is using antiretrovirals. The main factor for the success of ARV treatment is adherence. The survey at the VCT Polyclinic of Dr. M Djamil Hospital, Padang, there are still HIV/AIDS patients who sometimes forget to take their medicine even though they know the consequences of not taking medicine regularly and their families have reminded them to take medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and family support with medication adherence in HIV/AIDS patients at the VCT Polyclinic of Dr M Djamil Padang Hospital in 2022. This type of research is quantitative analytic with cross sectional design. The study was conducted at the VCT Polyclinic, Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The population were 434 people with a sample size of 63 people using the counsecutive sampling technique. Data was collected by using a questionnaire. Univariate analysis with descriptive statistics in the form of frequency distribution and percentage and bivariate analysis with chi square test.The results showed that 47.6% of respondents had low compliance, 46% had poor knowledge, and 44.4% felt that family support was not good. There was a significant relationship between knowledge and medication adherence (p value = 0.000) and family support with medication adherence (p value = 0.000) in HIV/AIDS patients at the VCT Polyclinic of Dr. M Djamil Hospital, Padang. It is suggested to the Counselor Team at the Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) of Dr. M Djamil Padang Hospital to cooperate with institutions involved in HIV/AIDS to improve compliance of HIV/AIDS patients in taking drugs.
