PENGARUH PEMBERIAN RESPIRATORY MUSCLE TRAINING TERHADAP PENURUNAN DYSPNEA PADA PASIEN PPOK DI RUANG BUYA HAMKA RUMAH SAKIT TINGKAT III Dr. REKSODIWIRYO PADANG

Abstract

The number of COPD sufferers worldwide has increased from around 227 million cases in 2010 to 396 million cases in 2021 with a prevalence of 12.2% (WHO, 2021). The prevalence of COPD events at Level III Hospital Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang in 2021, namely 136 people and from January to March 2022 there were 29 people (Hospital Medical Records, 2021). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving respiratory muscle training to reducing dyspnea in COPD patients at Buya Hamka Room, Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang in 2022. The research design used was a Quasi-experimental study with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. This research was conducted in the Buya Hamka Room, Level III Dr. Hospital. Reksodiwiryo Padang from March to September 2022. The population for this study were COPD sufferers who experienced dyspnea, totaling 10 people and all populations were used as research samples. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data analysis using univariate analysis using the mean and standard deviation and bivariate statistical tests using paired t-test with a 95% confidence level α = 0.05. The results showed that the average value of dyspnea before giving respiratory muscle training was 27.0 with a standard deviation of 1.41421 and the average value of dyspnea after giving respiratory muscle training was 21.5 with a standard deviation of 1.64992. There is an effect of giving respiratory muscle training to reduce dyspnea in COPD patients in the Buya Hamka Room, Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang in 2022 with statistical test results p-value = 0.000. Through the Director of Level III Dr. Hospital. Reksodiwiryo Padang is expected to motivate nursing staff in the Buya Hamka Room in providing nursing care to treat dyspnea in COPD patients.
