DUKUNGAN KELUARGA DAN DEPRESI PADA PASIEN POST MASTEKTOMI DI RSUP DR. M. DJAMIL PADANG
Abstract
Mastectomy is one of cancer treatments that emotionally stressfull for women with breast cancer. The effects of this surgical treatment contributed to the disturbances in body image and psychosexual functioning that can lead to depression. Depression experienced by patients after mastectomy can be addressed with great support from her family, especially her husband as the person who is closest to the patient This study was aimed to determine the relationship between husband support and the incidence of depression in Breast Cancer Patients with Post Mastectomy. The study was conducted in Dr.M.Djami Hospital inl 2016. The study was cross sectional study design, whose the sample was 46 women with post-mastectomy breast cancer The data collected by interviews using questionnaire. The result showed that 63.0 % patients perceived low support from her husband , and 19.6 % patients had severe depression. There is a significant relationship ( p = 0.000 ) between husband support with the incidence of depression in patients with post mastectomy. It is recommended to provide appropriate nursing interventions that can prevent or treat depression that occur in breast cancer patients after mastectomy by involving the family, especially the husband in providing nursing care including providing counseling as well as facilitating the family/ husband to provide support for his wife who had breast cancer both before and after mastectomy.
