Abstract

Given the very wide use of pesticides and its impact on health, it is necessary precaution measures to help farmers do not suffer from pesticide poisoning. This is consistent with the theory of Lawrence Green are three factors that affect the behavior: predisposing factors (level of education, knowledge and attitude will facilitate the occurrence of behaviors in one farm), the factors enabling or supporting the behavior (is a facility such as personal protective equipment) and reinforcing factors (work period to determine the behavior / actions of a farmer in the prevention of pesticide. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with preventive health impact of pesticides on farmers. With cross sectional research design was conducted in January-June 2010 in Kenagarian River Valley planted Gumanti Solok District. There was significant correlation between enabling factors (the use of personal protective equipment) with the impact of pesticide use preventive measures (p <0.05). The duration of a reinforcing factor that has no significant relationship with the impact of pesticide use preventive measures (p> 0.05).  Based on the research, suggested that the Health Department and the local Agriculture Department to provide information about pesticides and the use of PPE to farmers
