FAKTOR FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI KEMANDIRIAN PADA ANAK AUTIS DI SLB AUTISMA YAYASAN PENGEMBANGAN POTENSI ANAK (YPPA) PADANG

Abstract

The incidence of autism in children has increased every year. The number is estimated to be around 140,000 people in Indonesia in 2016. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence independence in autistic children in SLB Yayasan Pengembangan Potensi Anak (YPPA) Padang in 2018.
This research was a quantitative study with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted in March-September 2018. The population of this study was the parents of autistic children with a total of 49 people. All populations are sampled. Data collected through interviews guided by the questionnaire. Univariate data analysis uses descriptive statistics and chi-square test was used for bivariate data.
The results of this study found more than half (59.2%) of children were less independent, more than half (57.1%) had a poor family role, more than half (53.1%) of parental education was low, more than half (73 , 5%) the child's environment is not supportive. There was a relationship between the role of the family and the independence of children with autism (p value = 0,000), there was a relationship between parental education and the independence of children with autism (p value = 0,000) and there was an environmental relationship with the independence of children in SLB YPPA Padang (p value = 0,000). It is recommended to the leaders and teachers of Padang YPPA SLB, to used of this study as material for thought, input for the head of SLB Autisma YPPA Padang in increasing the independence of children with autism through the development of programs or curriculum learning ..
