PENGARUH BATUK EFEKTIF TERHADAP PENGELUARAN SPUTUM PADA PASIEN TUBERKULOSIS DI PUSKESMAS KURANJI PADANG

Abstract

Kuranji Padang Health centre has an estimated 501 cases of suspected pulmonary tuberculosis, 293 suspected cases and 39 BTA positive new cases. The initial survey found five people said that it was difficult for them to expel phlegm and even coughing was only saliva in the form of foam and white mucus. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of effective coughing techniques on sputum removal in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Kuranji Padang Health Center in 2019. This type of research is a Quasi Experiment with the design of Two Group Posttest design, this research was conducted at the Kuranji healt centre Padang in 2019. The population in this study were 42 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, with a sample of 10 people taken using purposive sampling. Data is processed by editing, coding, entry, cleaning steps. Univariate data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of the study in the control group of pulmonary tuberculosis patients were not good at removing sputum (81.8%) while the intervention group (88.9%) of tuberculosis patients were good at sputum removal. Chi-Square statistical test results obtained p-value = 0.005 means that there is an effective cough effect on sputum expenditures in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. It is expected that nurses who work in the Pulmonary TB Room at Kuranji healt centre Padang, in order to improve health services and provide about effective cough techniques for pulmonary tuberculosis patients and motivate patients to implement effective cough techniques independently
