HUBUNGAN LAMANYA DM DAN PERAWATAN KAKI DENGAN KEJADIAN ULKUS DIABETIKUM DI RUANG RAWAT INAP PENYAKIT DALAM RSI IBNU SINA PASAMAN BARAT

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) shows that people with diabetes mellitus in 2000 amounted to 171 million people and is predicted to continue to increase to reach 366 million by 2030. Diabetes mellitus with diabetic ulcer complications is ranked sixth with mortality due to ulcers ranging from 17-23 %. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the duration of DM and foot care with the incidence of diabetic ulcers in the Inpatient Room of Internal Medicine Ibnu Sina Pasaman Barat Hospital in 2017. The type of analytic description research was the Cross Sectional Study design. The time of the study was December 2017 to April 2018. The population of the study was 35 patients who were treated and had diabetes mellitus. All populations were sampled in the study. Data were analyzed by univariate using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency distribution and percentage, while bivariate analysis using chi-square. The results showed that more than half (68.6%) of patients suffered from diabetic ulcers, more than half (71.4%) of patients had diabetes for more than 5 years, more than half (65.7%) of patients did not take good foot care . Statistically it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between duration of DM, foot care with diabetic ulcer with p value <0.05. Through the director of West RSI Ibnu Sina Pasaman it is expected that nurses will provide information to patients with diabetes mellitus regarding the causes of diabetic ulcers, diets, activities recommended for people with diabetes mellitus and regular treatment and foot care so that there are no complications due to blood sugar high levels of diabetes mellitus.
