HUBUNGAN INTENSITAS PENGGUNAAN GADGET DENGAN PERKEMBANGAN PSIKOSOSIAL REMAJA DI SMP SEMEN PADANG

Abstract

The data from APJI (Association of Internet Service Providers) the usage of gadgets in West Sumatra has increased from 2016 to 2017 become 1.32 million. The usage of gadgets of the most is 8 hours per day and more choose the gadget than interact with the environment and lazy activity. The purpose the research is to find out the correlation between the intensity of gadgets usage with the psychosocial development of teenagers at Semen Padang Junior High School. This design of this research is survey analysis with cross sectional design. The research was carried out in March 2018 to September 2018. The population of this research are all students of class VII, VIII, IX who had a gadget. The samples were obtained in part of the population. Measuring instrument is using questionnaire. Data is processing by using editing steps, coding, entry and cleaning. The results of the research showed that the number of users of the gadget was more than 3 hours (81.1%) and poor social development (36,5%). There is a meaningful correlation between the intensity of gadgets usage with the psychosocial development of teenagers with the results of chi square test value = 0.004. Through the headmaster of Semen Padang Junior High School the research can be used as an additional information about the importance of knowing the intensity of normal gadget users and the effects of the gadget
